The research trip to KL was our 3rd visit to the cyber metropolis. KL with over 8 million inhabitants, has changed rapidly in the last years. KL was well known for the MEGA MALLS & FASHIONISTA heaven since decades. Some Malls are so huge that they run an indoor air con amusement park_WITH ROLLERCOASTER_inside the mall.
But nowadays it’s not only the mega malls who attract the style driven people from KL.
The upcoming fresh design talents from Malaysia and KL are more and more driven by individuality. The import of foreign brands is going down. It’s hip to consume trendy products from Malaysia mixed with international brands. We spotted amazing new shoe brands and also great product from local bag and textile companies. The most fascinating brand is the semi couture, customization shoe and accessory brand TOMORROW. They just opened an immense 1.400 m2 store at the Berjaya Times Square Mall.
The scene is kind of bored from the „mall only“ shopping. The next thing are the individual organized design markets. Those events are a mix of art, crafts, design brands, and food fiestas (music and DJ sets on top).
